As a charity, Woodlands relies heavily on donations and fundraising and the Friends of Woodlands - through the ever-popular Charity Shop - contribute greatly to the on-going improvement of Woodlands' facilities.

Respite Care

Woodlands is a purpose-built, one storey building, set in 3.5 acres of landscaped grounds on the edge of the city of York.

Generous staffing levels allow us to provide total care for people with any level of dependency, including complex nursing needs. Care needs are met in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Facilities

All of the 24 single, ground floor bedrooms are wheelchair accessible with en-suite facilities, adjustable profiling beds, direct dial telephone, radio clock alarm and television. 20 rooms are fitted with overhead electrically-operated hoists, and there are also mobile hoists for use in other parts of the building.


We offer a varied programme of outings throughout the year in addition to hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. Other therapies such as aromatherapy and reflexology are also available.
