As a charity, Woodlands relies heavily on donations and fundraising and the Friends of Woodlands - through the ever-popular Charity Shop - contribute greatly to the on-going improvement of Woodlands' facilities.

Volunteering in the Charity Shop
We offer the opportunity for you to try out a variety of tasks from customer service, sorting and steaming the donated clothes, dressing the window and managing the stock.
Whether you are a behind the scenes person or front of house we will give you all the training, help and support you need.
What our Volunteers think
“We enjoy working in the shop. The customers are nearly always nice and friendly. With going up to Woodlands we are able to see the ‘fruits of our labours’ e.g the minibuses and the new electric beds.”

“Any shop has a huge part to play in the community, but a charity shop is essential and as a single Mum I perhaps realise this more than most. I don’t have an awful lot of time to spare but it’s very satisfying to know that I’ve done something worthwhile, but that’s only a small part of it. I get far more back than I put in. I work with a fantastic team of people, a real mixed bunch, we range in age from 20s to 80s.I’m learning new skills, which will come in handy when I go back to work and it’s a real stepping stone to rebuilding confidence needed to do this. Whenever I’ve been working at the Shop I feel as though I’ve been socialising with friends, we catch up on gossip, have a cuppa and have a laugh oh we serve the odd customer too! So there you have it – Volunteer, the pay’s rubbish but you do get the pick of the donations!"
